Sandwiches, Wraps and Salads Recalled over E.coli Risk

June 16, 2024

Two sandwich manufacturers supplying UK supermarkets have recalled products due to an E.coli risk, as reported by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

This precautionary measure follows a warning from the UK Health Security Agency about an outbreak that has hospitalised more than 40% of the 160 reported cases.

Products from several major retailers, including Boots, Asda, Tesco, Co-op, Aldi, Sainsbury's, and Amazon, are affected by the recall. Specifically, nine products at Asda have been highlighted.

The companies involved in the recall are Greencore and Samworth Brothers Manton Wood. Both Asda and Tesco have emphasized that this is a precautionary step and advised customers to return the affected products for a refund.

The FSA has identified the source of the E.coli contamination as a small number of salad leaf products used in various sandwiches, wraps, subs, and rolls. It is anticipated that other manufacturers will also issue recalls in the near future.
