Police have identified Dolars Aleksanders, 21, as a suspect in the hit-and-run death of 12-year-old Keaton Slater, who was struck by a black BMW in Radford Road, Coventry, on Friday.
The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 pm, and Keaton was pronounced dead at the scene. The family of Keaton, described as a "fun-loving little comedian," has paid tribute to him, calling him "so beautiful inside and out."
West Midlands Police have seized an abandoned black BMW found in New Arley on Friday evening, which is now undergoing forensic examination. One individual voluntarily handed themselves in at a police station on Saturday evening and has been released under investigation after being questioned.
Sergeant Rich Evans of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed the department’s commitment to finding those responsible, emphasizing the support being offered to Keaton's family during this difficult time. The police are reviewing CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses, and urging anyone with information to come forward.
"A family has lost a 12-year-old boy in an appalling incident and our thoughts remain with them," Sergeant Evans stated. "We'd again appeal for those involved, or anyone who knows them, to search their consciences, do the right thing, and tell us what you know."
