A former Premier League footballer has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at the Corinthia Hotel in Westminster, London.
The 24-year-old player was detained by police on Wednesday morning after the woman, believed to be in her 20s, reported the alleged assault to hotel staff.
The footballer, who denies the allegations, was taken to Charing Cross police station for questioning and has since been released on bail until mid-December, pending further investigation.
According to a source quoted by *The Sun*, the woman met the player at a bar before returning to his hotel room, where she claims the assault took place. The police arrived shortly after being alerted by hotel staff, and the player was arrested at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest and stated that the woman is receiving support from specially trained officers.
