Urfan Sharif Admits to the Police that He Killed His Daughter

October 14, 2024

Urfan Sharif, the father of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, told police in a 999 call that he had "killed his daughter."

The call was made on August 10 last year, while Sharif and his family had already fled the UK to Pakistan. During the call, which was played to jurors at the Old Bailey, Sharif claimed he had "legally punished" Sara, stating that she had been "naughty" and that it was not his intention to kill her, but he had "beat her up too much."

Sara was found at her home in Woking, Surrey, with numerous injuries, including bruising, burns, and broken bones when her body was discovered on a bunk bed.

Prosecutors presented a note written by Sharif, which stated, "It's me Urfan Sharif who killed my daughter by beating" and expressed that he did not intend to kill her but had "lost it" and was fleeing because he was scared.

The prosecution argued that Sara had been subjected to prolonged and severe violence over an extended period. The trial continues.
