A federal judge has ordered Rudy Giuliani, former attorney to Donald Trump and ex-mayor of New York City, to hand over his valuable assets and Manhattan penthouse to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two Georgia election workers whom he defamed following the 2020 election.
Giuliani, who owes $150 million to Freeman and Moss after a defamation judgment, must relinquish control of the property and his possessions within seven days.
Judge Lewis Liman of the federal court in Manhattan ruled that Freeman and Moss would gain control of the luxury items and the penthouse apartment, which could be sold for millions of dollars. Additionally, they are entitled to approximately $2 million in legal fees Giuliani claims the Trump campaign still owes him.
Giuliani is also required to turn over other valuable items, including a collection of watches given to him by European leaders after the September 11 attacks, a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey, a Mercedes once owned by actress Lauren Bacall, and various other personal items, such as a television and jewelry.
The judge has not yet determined whether Giuliani can retain his Palm Beach condominium or his New York Yankees World Series rings, which his son claims were gifted to him.
This ruling stems from Giuliani's defamation case, where a jury awarded Freeman and Moss nearly $150 million in damages. The women, who counted Georgia ballots during the 2020 election, have been seeking to enforce the judgment ever since.
This case highlights the legal consequences faced by those involved in efforts to undermine the 2020 election, including the loss of Giuliani's law license for spreading false claims.
