Turkey’s defence ministry announced that its forces conducted airstrikes against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) sites in northern Iraq and Syria, following an attack near Ankara that resulted in the deaths of five people. The Turkish government attributed the attack to the PKK, a Kurdish militant group it has been in conflict with for decades.
According to the ministry’s statement, 32 targets were successfully destroyed during the air operation, which was aimed at PKK-linked terrorist facilities.
The strikes are part of an ongoing Turkish military campaign against the group, which is considered a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.
The ministry emphasized that operations are continuing, signaling Turkey's intent to maintain pressure on the PKK in response to recent attacks.
