Republican Tim Sheehy has won the U.S. Senate seat in Montana, unseating Democratic incumbent Jon Tester, who had served for three terms and was Montana’s only statewide Democratic officeholder.
Sheehy, a former U.S. Navy SEAL, ran on a strong conservative platform aligned with former President Donald Trump, whose popularity remains high in the state.
This win represents a significant shift in Montana’s political landscape, as Tester’s defeat gives Republicans a notable Senate seat gain in a critical election year. The Associated Press officially called the race at 6:26 a.m. EST on Wednesday.
