November 20, 2024

Research by the consumer choice website shows some UK home insurance companies are rejecting as many as two-thirds of claims, leaving policyholders frustrated and vulnerable.

Some of the Key findings are itemised below:

- Low Acceptance Rates: Lloyds Insurance Group had the lowest acceptance rate for buildings-only claims, approving just 30–35%.

- Other Providers: Esure and Rentokil approved only 40–45%, while the AA, EUI, and Urban Jungle approved 50–55% of claims for their respective policies.

- Consumer Concerns: Rocio Concha criticised insurers for rejecting claims from customers dealing with devastating incidents like house fires, calling the situation "extremely concerning."

These findings highlight the need for greater transparency and fairness in how insurers assess and approve claims.
