British made storm shadow missiles have been fired into Russia for the first time by Ukraine.
The UK became the first country to supply Ukraine with longer-range cruise missiles last summer, significantly aiding Kyiv's counteroffensive efforts.
Missile Details
- Range: Up to 155 miles
- Cost: £2 million per missile
- Design: Developed in the 1990s by the UK and France, previously used in Iraq and Libya.
- Capabilities:
- Targets static, fortified high-value sites.
- Contains two warheads: one pierces fortifications, and the other detonates inside.
- Penetrates up to 4 metres of concrete and flies at low altitudes for precision.
The Kremlin criticised the UK's move, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov condemning Britain for "pumping weapons into Ukraine." Despite the controversy, the missiles have bolstered Ukraine's ability to strike Russian forces far behind the front lines.
