Elton John Unable to Finish New Album Due to Poor Vision

November 26, 2024

Sir Elton John has revealed he has been unable to see with his right eye for four months due to a severe infection, while his vision in his left eye is also impaired.

The 77-year-old music icon shared that the condition has left him unable to work on his latest album, leaving him feeling "stuck."
The "Sacrifice" crooner hinted:

"I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France, and it's been four months now since I haven't been able to see, and my left eye is not the greatest."

He expressed hope for recovery, stating he is focused on regaining his eye health:

"It's never fortunate for anything like this to happen, and it kind of floored me. I can't see anything, I can't read anything, can't watch anything."

The singer has been unable to complete the album he announced last year with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin.

While Taupin previously indicated the album was complete and due for release this year, Sir Elton’s vision issues have stalled progress. He lamented that his limited eyesight makes it challenging to perform tasks like reading lyrics in the studio.

In September, Sir Elton updated fans via Instagram, describing his recovery as a "slow process" and noting it would take time for vision to return in the affected eye.

The singer’s health challenges are not new; he has undergone knee and hip replacements, prostate cancer surgery, and has managed to continue performing and making public appearances despite these setbacks.
