Cost of Christmas Dinner Rises Significantly

The cost of a Christmas dinner for four has risen by 6.5% this year, surpassing the rate of inflation, according to market researchers at Kantar.

This festive meal now costs £32.57, up from approximately £30.58 last year.
Potatoes saw the sharpest price increase, surging by 16.2% to £1.65, far above October's annual food inflation rate of 1.9%. Cauliflower prices rose 14.6%, while parsnips increased by 12.7%.

The cost of frozen turkey, traditionally the most expensive item on the table, climbed by 8.5%, contributing significantly to the overall hike. Notably, sparkling wine was the only item to remain unchanged in price.
