On Thursday, President Donald Trump dismissed the heated exchange between tech leaders Elon Musk and Sam Altman, which cast a shadow over his recent announcement of a $500 billion AI initiative.

Musk had expressed scepticism about the funding for the project, using his X social media platform to suggest that the participating companies lacked the necessary capital.

However, Trump downplayed Musk's remarks, attributing them to personal animosity rather than criticism of the project itself.

“He hates one of the people,” Trump said, seemingly referring to Altman. “I’ve spoken to Elon—spoken to all of them, actually. The people involved in the deal are very, very smart, but Elon has a personal dislike for one of them. I have certain hatreds of people too,” he added.

Trump maintained confidence in the viability of the AI initiative, emphasizing the expertise of the individuals involved despite the interpersonal tensions.
