Amid widespread layoffs in the retail sector, Iceland has announced an initiative to support workers affected by redundancies at Sainsbury's and Morrisons. The frozen food retailer is encouraging these employees to apply for one of the 600 roles it is currently advertising.

Iceland is looking to fill a variety of positions, including:

  • Management roles at its head office in North Wales.
  • Shop staff for its stores nationwide.
  • Home delivery drivers to support its growing customer base.

The recruitment drive follows the closure of in-store cafes and a reduction of 3,000 jobs at Sainsbury’s, alongside Morrisons’ decision to cut 201 roles as part of cost-cutting measures.

An Iceland spokesperson expressed pride in the company’s ability to expand and create new opportunities during challenging times.

“While many in the retail sector are facing tough decisions, we're proud to be creating opportunities and expanding our team as we grow across the UK.”

This initiative highlights Iceland's commitment to growth and its role in supporting the retail workforce during a period of significant industry upheaval.
