UK Heatwave: Four-Day Extreme Heat Warning Comes Into Effect

Water regulator Ofwat has announced that water bills in England and Wales will increase by an average of 36% over the next five years.
The steepest increases will affect customers of a specific water company, which is currently grappling with a "technical issue" leaving some households without water.
Ofwat said the increase is necessary to fund infrastructure improvements, enhance water supply resilience, and tackle environmental concerns, including sewage discharges into rivers and the sea.
The announcement has sparked concerns among customers already dealing with rising living costs. Campaign groups argue that water companies should focus on reducing leakage and improving efficiency rather than placing the financial burden on consumers.
The affected company has yet to provide a timeline for resolving the "technical issue" impacting water supplies, which has exacerbated frustrations among its customers.
Further details on the planned investments and how the increases will be phased are expected to be disclosed by Ofwat in the coming weeks.
