Costco has expanded a recall to include its Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon due to potential listeria contamination, following a nationwide outbreak affecting nearly 10 million pounds of various meat products.
The recall applies to salmon sold between October 9 and 13 and specifically includes packages marked with LOT number 8512801270.
The recall was voluntarily initiated by Acme Smoked Fish Corp., the supplier, out of caution for consumer safety. In a notice to Costco members, Acme's CEO Eduardo Carbajosa expressed regret for the incident and assured that corrective actions are underway to prevent future issues.
Affected customers are advised not to consume the product and to return it to Costco for a full refund.
This recall follows an earlier U.S. Department of Agriculture update that listed numerous products, including frozen dinners and packaged salads from major retailers like Trader Joe’s, Amazon Fresh, Kroger, and others.
