Apple has announced a $500 billion investment to expand its US-based facilities over the next four years, a move that could help the company mitigate the impact of new 10% tariffs on Chinese imports imposed by President Donald Trump. The investment is expected to create 20,000 jobs.

Trump hinted at Apple’s plans after meeting with CEO Tim Cook, attributing the decision to his trade policies.

However, Apple has been diversifying its supply chain beyond China for years, with Mac Pro production in Texas and expansion into India and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, TSMC, Apple’s chip supplier, is set to open an Arizona chip plant with $6.6 billion in federal support, highlighting a broader push to boost US manufacturing.
