Anthropic has launched the Claude 3.7 Sonnet model, an advanced AI system designed to enhance reasoning and improve response speed.

The Amazon and Google-backed company unveiled the model on Monday, aiming to gain an edge in the competitive generative AI industry, where US tech giants and Chinese firms like DeepSeek and Alibaba are vying for dominance.

The Claude 3.7 Sonnet model features hybrid reasoning, combining multiple approaches to solving complex problems efficiently. It is available across all Claude plans, including Free, Pro, Team, and Enterprise, although the "extended thinking mode" is exclusive to paid users.

This feature allows the model to self-reflect before answering, improving performance in math, physics, coding, and instruction-following tasks.

Anthropic emphasized that the model prioritises real-world applications, focusing less on math and computer science to better align with business use cases.
Additionally, the company introduced a limited-release preview of Claude Code, an agentic coding tool that helps developers automate engineering tasks directly from their terminal.

The pricing for Claude 3.7 Sonnet remains unchanged from previous models, making it more cost-effective than OpenAI’s o1 model. Anthropic’s model costs $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, compared to OpenAI’s $15 and $60, respectively.

With this latest release, Anthropic continues to push the boundaries of AI-powered reasoning and coding assistance, offering a more accessible and efficient alternative in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
