"Captain America: Brave New World" dominated the weekend box office, grossing $88.5 million domestically from Friday to Sunday.
The movie is projected to surpass $100 million over the Presidents' Day weekend, making it the fourth-highest-grossing opener for the holiday.
It edges out Fifty Shades of Grey ($93 million in 2015) but trails three other Marvel hits: Black Panther ($242 million in 2018), Deadpool ($152 million in 2016), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million in 2023).
The film's debut aligns with Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million in 2014) but falls short of Captain America: Civil War ($179 million in 2016). It performed significantly better than The Marvels ($46 million in 2023), which had the MCU’s lowest opening weekend.
