In a generous move, Nationwide Building Society has announced that over 12 million customers will receive a £50 payment as part of its "Big Nationwide Thank You" initiative.
This gesture is a token of appreciation for its members' support during the company’s acquisition of Virgin Money last year.
The building society has committed more than £600 million to fund this customer reward program, with payments set to begin from 9 April 2024.
To qualify for the payment, customers must have held an eligible Nationwide savings account, current account, or mortgage as of September 30, 2023.
Nationwide’s CEO, Debbie Crosbie, emphasized the importance of customer support in making the Virgin Money deal a success. She stated:
"Nationwide became even stronger when it bought Virgin Money, and we are already improving services for its customers. The Big Nationwide Thank You recognises the role our members played in building the financial strength that made the deal possible."
Eligible members will receive the money automatically into their Nationwide account, with no action required on their part.
The move is designed to reward loyal members while reinforcing Nationwide’s position as a member-focused institution.
By sharing financial success with its customers, the building society continues to distinguish itself from traditional banks.
