Passengers could save up to £90 on train fares thanks to a new feature on the Virgin Train Ticketing app, which allows users to book cheaper indirect journeys in a single transaction.
The feature is designed for those willing to sacrifice shorter travel times to benefit from significant cost reductions, with some savings reaching as much as 78%.
Mark Plowright, director of Virgin Trains Ticketing, acknowledged the UK’s need for a simpler rail fares system, describing tools like split ticketing as a temporary fix rather than a permanent solution.
