UK Heatwave: Four-Day Extreme Heat Warning Comes Into Effect

Water bills in England and Wales are set to rise significantly from April, with the average household facing an increase of £10 per month.
According to Water UK, the typical annual water and wastewater bill will jump by 26%, from £480 to £603 in the 2025/26 financial year.
The price hikes, determined by regulator Ofwat in December, are part of a new five-year pricing period aimed at funding crucial infrastructure improvements, including upgrades to storm overflows to reduce sewage spills. While the increases are steep, they are still lower than what suppliers had initially requested.
Some households will see even sharper rises. Southern Water customers will experience the highest percentage increase at 47%, pushing their average bill to £703 per year.
Hafren Dyfrdwy and South West Water customers will see their bills rise by 32%.
These inflation-busting increases come at a time when many other household costs are also expected to rise, adding financial strain to consumers already grappling with the high cost of living.
