Wind gusts of 82mph have been recorded in Capel Curig, Wales, leaving thousands without power as the severe weather sweeps across the UK.
The Met Office confirmed that this is the strongest wind speed recorded so far today, with other high gusts reported at The Needles near the Isle of Wight and Berry Head in Devon.
The intense winds have caused significant disruptions, including power outages, fallen trees, one of which claimed the life of a man, and travel chaos.
Yellow weather warnings for wind remain in effect across multiple regions, with further disruption expected in the coming hours. The warnings are accompanied by advice for residents to stay cautious, secure outdoor items, and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas.
Efforts are underway to restore power and clear debris, but the storm's full impact is still being assessed. For detailed information on affected regions, residents are encouraged to check the latest updates from the Met Office.
