White House Barricaded after Final Election Predictions Spark Fears of Riots

November 5, 2024

With tensions building up ahead of the upcoming US presidential election, authorities are taking unprecedented security measures in Washington, DC, by erecting tall metal fences around key sites, including the White House and the Naval Observatory, where Vice President Kamala Harris resides.

Officials are keen on preventing any potential violence or unrest, with Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on any threats to public safety or property destruction.

As for predictions, historian Allan Lichtman—dubbed the "Nostradamus of presidential elections" for accurately predicting nine of the last ten elections—is sticking with his forecast that Kamala Harris will emerge victorious.

Lichtman’s model, based on 13 keys rather than polling data, points to Harris as the likely winner due to factors like the incumbent party's standing and leadership stability.

Although polling outlets like FiveThirtyEight and PredictIt show a close race, Lichtman’s method gives Harris an edge, with the Economist recently estimating her at 52%.

Security is visibly heightened as the election approaches, with storefronts being boarded up near the White House and warnings issued about potential unrest.

In anticipation of possible election-related incidents, residents and officials alike are preparing for a high-stakes night.
