Job report: The key economic report of the week comes before the opening bell when the Labor Department is expected to say the U.S. economy added 250,000 new nonfarm jobs in July.

"It won't be like the 372,000 we saw in June," said Joanie Bily, Workforce Analyst. It would mark the weakest job growth since December 2020, consistent with other data showing cooling labor market. The unemployment rate is anticipated to hold steady at 3.6% for the fifth month in a row.

Tesla shareholders approve stock split, Tesla Shareholders have approved a three-for-one stock split. Preliminary results of the shareholder vote were announced at the company's annual meeting at its factory in Austin, Texas. CEO Elon Musk also discussed a major factory expansion and might announce another factory site this year, and it expects to have about a dozen in the future.

Amazon workers walk out on pay discontent, Hundreds of Amazon workers at a warehouse in Tilbury in southeast England have walked out in protest over pay, the trade union GMB said, the latest sign of labour force discontent as the rising cost-of-living sparks strikes across sectors.

Amazon, which dominates the online retail marketplace, has faced criticism from workers in many countries over pay and conditions. "Amazon continues to reject working with trade unions to deliver better working conditions and fair pay. Their repeated use of short-term contracts is designed to undermine worker’s rights," the union said on Thursday.

Elon Musk dismisses private airport idea, Billionaire Elon Musk owns a lot of things. A private airport apparently won't be among them.

The chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX took to Twitter to dismiss reports he's planning to build his own airport near Bastrop, Texas, a town roughly 20 miles east of Tesla’s new Gigafactory and global headquarters in Austin. Musk said it would be "silly" to build a private airport five minutes away from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. He did suggest, however, that the airport needs another runway. "Austin is growing fast!" he said.
