Donald Trump has announced on his social media platform that the U.S. will delay the planned tariffs on Mexico for one month.

Trump stated that he had a "very friendly conversation" with Claudia Sheinbaum, during which they agreed to temporarily halt the 25% tariffs.

He also mentioned that negotiations will take place over the next month to determine the next steps.

"I look forward to participating in those negotiations with President Sheinbaum as we work towards a 'deal' between our two countries," Trump said.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed she had a "good conversation" with Trump, discussing various issues. She emphasized that the one-month tariff pause was her proposal and highlighted ongoing cooperation on border security.

Sheinbaum announced that Mexico will deploy 10,000 National Guard troops to reinforce security at the U.S.-Mexico border.
