Breaking: Asda Slashes Prices on over 1,500 Products as UK Supermarket Price War Intensifies

Asda has stepped up its commitment to value by cutting prices on more than 1,500 popular products, as the UK’s supermarket price war heats up.

Shoppers can now save up to 45% on selected groceries both in-store and online, including household favourites like Philadelphia soft cheese, Cathedral City cheddar, and Persil laundry capsules.

This latest round of reductions brings the total number of discounted items under Asda’s Rollback scheme to nearly 10,000 products — covering almost a third of the entire range.

“Delivering on Our Promise to Lower Prices”

Allan Leighton, Asda’s executive chairman, reinforced the retailer’s ongoing mission to provide affordable grocery shopping:

“Last week we reaffirmed our commitment to cutting prices. Today, we’re delivering on that promise again by rolling back thousands more products. We’ll continue investing in low prices throughout the year and beyond.”

The announcement follows Asda’s recent move to cut petrol and diesel prices by 4p per litre across all of its forecourts — offering additional savings for customers at the pump.

Supermarket Shares Feel the Pressure

Asda’s aggressive pricing strategy has sent shockwaves through the retail sector, with shares in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and M&S dipping last week amid fears of heightened competition.

With inflation still affecting household budgets, Asda’s price cuts are likely to appeal to UK families looking for cheap supermarket deals and may pressure rivals to follow suit.
