SharkNinja recalls 1.8 million Ninja Foodi pressure cookers due to lid defects causing severe burns. Find out which models are affected and what to do next.
SharkNinja has issued a major recall for approximately 1.8 million Ninja Foodi pressure cookers following reports of serious burn injuries, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall applies to the Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers, which pose a hazard because the lid can be opened while the cooker is still pressurised, potentially allowing hot contents to escape and cause burns.
The CPSC reports 106 cases of burn injuries, including over 50 second- and third-degree burns affecting the face and body. In addition, more than 26 lawsuits have been filed against SharkNinja related to these injuries.
In a statement, the Needham, Massachusetts-based company emphasized customer safety, saying, "This recall addresses reports that some consumers have been able to open the pressure-cooking lids of certain units during use, resulting in burn injuries."
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the pressure-cooking function on affected models, which include the following:
OP300
OP301
OP301A
OP302
OP302BRN

The recall also covers replacement lids for OP300 series cookers, if purchased separately.
The recalled pressure cookers were sold between 2018 and 2023 at major retailers including:

In addition to U.S. sales, around 184,240 units were sold in Canada, and the recall is being coordinated with Health Canada.
While consumers are advised to stop using the pressure-cooking function, the appliance's air frying and other functions remain safe for use, according to the recall notice.
SharkNinja is offering free replacement lids for affected units. Consumers should contact the company through its official recall portal to arrange for a replacement.
