Azerbaijan has declared a national day of mourning following a tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of 38 people.
Footage from inside the Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 has surfaced, showing passengers praying as oxygen masks were deployed. The video, filmed by a passenger, captures the moments leading up to the disaster.
The flight, which departed from Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, was en route to Grozny in Russia’s North Caucasus. The plane was diverted mid-flight for reasons that remain unclear.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
