Authorities are investigating a Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside Donald Trump's Las Vegas hotel as a potential terror attack.

The incident, which occurred on New Year's Day, resulted in the death of the driver, who was inside the vehicle when it caught fire, and caused minor injuries to seven others.

The explosion took place just outside the Trump International Hotel, with officials yet to determine the exact cause.

Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, has drawn attention due to Musk’s financial support for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Law enforcement sources noted that the blast is being treated as a possible act of terrorism.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas police confirmed the truck was rented in Colorado and arrived in Las Vegas earlier that day. After travelling along Las Vegas Boulevard, the vehicle stopped at Trump Towers, where the explosion occurred.

While officials know the identity of the individual who rented the truck, they have withheld the name for now. Investigators are working to piece together the details, with no further updates yet on the motive or nature of the explosion.
