Several of the UK's leading banks have suffered online banking disruptions this morning, preventing numerous customers from accessing their funds on payday.

This marks the second consecutive month that major banks have experienced IT system failures around payday, causing frustration among account holders.

According to service outage tracker Downdetector, a surge in reported issues has affected Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Nationwide, TSB, Bank of Scotland, and First Direct.

Both Nationwide and First Direct have confirmed technical issues with their online banking services, leaving many customers unable to complete transactions or check their account balances.

Nationwide's Statement on Banking Disruptions

Nationwide addressed the issue on its website, stating that "some incoming and outgoing payments are currently delayed," but assured customers that "all other banking services are functioning normally."

The financial institution also confirmed that direct debits and standing orders are processing as expected, with delayed payments queued for completion. Customers are advised that no further action is needed on their part.

First Direct Online Banking Issues

First Direct acknowledged that its mobile and online banking platforms are "experiencing payment processing issues," further impacting customers who rely on digital banking services.

Lloyds Banking Outage

Lloyds Banking Group, which operates Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, issued a statement saying: "We are aware that some customers are experiencing issues with internet banking and our mobile apps. We sincerely apologise and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

TSB Banking Problems

TSB has also reported problems with its banking services, adding to the growing list of financial institutions affected by the outage.

Customers across the UK have expressed frustration as they struggle to access their wages and make essential transactions. Banks are urging customers to remain patient as technical teams work to restore services.
