Luxury Italian fashion house Prada is reportedly nearing a €1.5 billion (£1.3 billion) deal to acquire its iconic rival, Versace, according to reports from Bloomberg News and the Financial Times.

The potential acquisition would see Prada purchase Versace from Capri Holdings, a luxury group that also owns Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo. According to Bloomberg, sources suggest the deal could be finalised in March, though timing and valuation remain subject to change.

Is the Luxury fashion takeover a Done Deal?

Despite reports of an agreed price, insiders warn that negotiations could still collapse. The high-profile merger has attracted interest from other fashion conglomerates, increasing competition for the prestigious Versace brand.

Luxury Market consolidation

Luxury fashion is undergoing major consolidation, with brands competing for market dominance. Miuccia Prada, Prada’s owner, acknowledged last week that several fashion houses have expressed interest in acquiring Versace, making the final outcome uncertain.

What’s Next for the Versace Acquisition?

With Prada leading the race, industry experts are watching closely to see whether Capri Holdings will finalise the sale or if other luxury groups will make a competing bid. If successful, the deal would mark one of the biggest luxury fashion acquisitions of 2025.
