Airbnb guest Xena Habashi shared her unsettling experience at a Chicago rental, where she discovered a hidden, ominous chamber not mentioned in the listing.
Habashi, who arrived around 4 a.m. with family, initially saw the rental’s bedroom and common areas. However, she soon noticed multiple unlisted doors, including one with a light on behind it.
Using a fork to unlock the door, she discovered a dark, unfinished room resembling a cellar, with exposed brick walls, wooden doors with locks, chains on the floor, and another descending door leading further into the building.
The discovery left Habashi and her family frightened; they blocked the chamber door with a table and stayed up until morning, unnerved by mysterious sounds.
Before departing, Habashi filmed the space, and her TikTok post went viral. The eerie encounter adds to a growing number of stories where unexpected, concealed spaces spark concern for Airbnb guests about transparency and safety in rental properties.
