Cineworld has announced plans to close six additional cinemas as part of an ongoing major restructuring program.
The affected locations include Castleford, Leigh, Middlesbrough, Northampton, Poole, and Weymouth.
The decision follows the completion of a financial restructuring initiative launched earlier this year to stabilise the company’s finances.
The impact on jobs remains unclear at this stage.
These closures will reduce Cineworld’s presence in the UK to 90 cinemas. Earlier in the year, the company shut down sites in Glasgow Parkhead, Bedford, Loughborough, Yate, and Swindon Regent Circus under the same restructuring program.
However, a planned closure of the Hinckley cinema was averted following a new property deal.
